Finding Our Humanity in the Wake of Harvey & Irma

action-collaboration-KristenToday

The past couple week’s hurricanes have been humbling, tragic, and heartbreaking. There’s been a few also to show our common humanity behind the faces of nationalism, religious affiliation, ethnicity, etc. In the end, we all have equally important roles to play on this planet.

The emphasis on Virgo with 3 planets there reminds us to keep things simple, equal, practical. Their collective energies push us also to realize the archetypes of Pisces, which coincidentally was the Full Moon last week.

Pisces teaches you to find a common core, believe in something beyond your mental understanding, and merge back into that vulnerable but intoxicating sense of Oneness.

This is an opportunity to start a new cycle.

When faced with the ruins of disaster, the earth going against itself – all the people, plants and animals in that place, it’s an energetic black hole. You can feel it immediately by looking at photos.

Like feeds like, and the sadness only gives energy to the darkness.

We must find the light within ourselves, our own spirit and belief to rebuild with a new vision. Saturn in Sagittarius gives us the strength to do it. To fight against the pain and loss. To somehow find freedom in this raw, vulnerable moment.

Even if you have been fortunate, like me, to be spared from this disaster on a personal level, empathy and compassion can help build the spirit of strength for those who have to do the grunt work.

We are in this together.

Somehow the Earth thought this was the best way to find balance in herself. We, our neighbors, our friends, likely someone we know on a name basis has been touched and affected by these incredible acts of Mother Nature.

As human beings, we equally have the choice on how we find our own balance in the wake of this earth’s messages to us here national as well as globally.

Again Virgo talking here – what part can you make, however small it might feel?

In the end, we need to walk together in a new way. A way we may not understand fully – it’s never had to be done before.

The circumstances of today are unique like they were during the Black Plague, or the onset of the AIDS epidemic and other great turning points to hit humankind.

Somehow, through constant and willful effort, solutions were found. We could have died, but the human spirit did not allow it.

This moment is no different. Like an initiation, you have to walk through the gates with faith and certainty that you’re on the right path. How you live your life does and will have a ripple effect on the future, even if it’s not a linear connection.

Just like the actions of human beings in the past contributed to the intensity of these storms. You can’t put the blame on one person, culture, or thing. It’s a collective causality.

Let’s together create something beautiful.

Strive to witness a new life bloom in these places that have reached rock bottom.

The land is fertile to be conceived and rebuilt again in a beautiful light.

Let’s take time to observe our pain, work through it together with kindness and understanding, and see how this could be even better this time around.

This is what it means to be human, right?

6 Astrological Cues To Play Your Part

The astrological climate can give us cues on how to help in ways actually needed.

When faced with the unthinkable, a stranger reliably holds out her hand and offers aid.

Unfortunately, sometimes this aid can be unneeded, and even worse, wasteful. (This, according to a news report I heard about a warehouse of teddy bears and toys that had to be dumped after Sandy Hook and the likelihood of a similar cause after Harvey).

Often giving is more for the giver than the receiver. And there’s neurological evidence why (it opens the pituitary gland and brain center for empathy – a natural high).

Yet, this is just going off automatic brain function.

Let’s strive for conscious empathy, one that is listening.

Here are 6 guides to play your part, however small it might feel:

  1. Get dirty and in the weeds. A stellium of planets in Virgo helps you stay focused on the task at hand and to be in service.
  2. Take breaks often to gain perspective. You need Saturn’s structure to envision the results of what you’re doing. Nothing is worse than doing the wrong thing because you were on a roll.
  3. Embrace what may seem radical. If it seems practical at heart, listen to the Grand Trine in fire with Uranus-Saturn-Venus. Things have to be done in an unfamiliar way – the old way isn’t working. Trust yourself in the unknown terrain.
  4. Build for Your Children. The North Node in Leo encourages you to make it personal. Do things that you would give your own children, not just a group of people and causes you believe in. Think about it – if you were to give a holiday gift to your children or a charity, who has the better deal energetically and physically? Build with the motivations that work.
  5. Listen to what is really said. Chiron in Pisces feels deeply wounded in ways that might be unconscious. What people say likely have deeper layers. Ask heart-full questions to hear the whole story and bridge the gap between unspoken and conscious healing.
  6. Do it together. Jupiter and now Vesta (next Monday) in Libra emphasize the power of collaboration. Fill in skill sets with a trusted guide to do the good together.

Day Guides: September 12 – 18, 2017

Read these guides in full to feel the flow of the week. Then use each day guide as a spark to direct your day’s important moments.

Tuesday: Frustrated, Moon in Gemini wants to get busy and has all the ideas to make the best of the situation. However, bigger problems stand in the way, like Neptune in Pisces (too much water, emotional weight) and Sun (doesn’t relate personally enough to your outside ideas). Saturn trine Venus tells you to put a structure on all these thoughts, and you’ll find a better reception with the others you need to make it a reality.

Wednesday: Get to work early to take advantage of Gemini Moon’s nimble and quick nature. The void course Moon from 2:35pm – 6:12pm EDT puts things on hold. It’ll be better to reorganize your notes and tasks for tomorrow at this void time.

Thursday: Personal and caring, Moon in Cancer wants to take care of others. Your parental nature comes out and wants to help. Make sure it’s actually useful. The Astrological Cues to Play Your Part in This Week’s Considerations are your guide to listen empathetically. Why I write this? Moon trines Jupiter and sextiles Uranus. Sun and Saturn square, putting pressure on your ego to show face and results.

Friday: Yesterday’s theme of compassion remains strong, however, morning ideological differences can rear their head with the Moon-Jupiter square. It’s a quiet evening inside for yourself and those closest to you, should you follow the Moon’s signal when it goes void 5:23pm – 9:09pm EDT.

Saturday: Check your motivations. Moon in Leo wants to charge forward and be the hero. However, Mercury and Mars conjunction in Virgo today show the utility of just doing the work and understanding from experience. The Moon is in the 12th house of these Mercury and Mars, indicating your mood might undoes well-meaning efforts, often unconsciously. Be the hero to yourself inside by being humble on the outward side of your actions.

Sunday: Trying to juggle much, today’s Moon in Leo gives you the inner confidence to see through all the outside influences and make something worthwhile. Like yesterday, you have to be careful you’re not doing it for your ego. Do it for your children (or would be), like I suggest as one of the Cues to Do Your Part in This Week’s Considerations. Rest well with Moon void in Leo beginning 8:55pm EDT (it enters Virgo at 12:52am EDT Monday. Your morning sleep might unravel some solutions you’ve been trying to fix. Keep a journal or recorder nearby to remember them. Embrace the radical solution if it comes up (Venus and Uranus perfect their sextile), again another Cue to Do Your Part from This Week’s Considerations.

Monday: Head down, get it done. Moon in Virgo keeps it practical and focused. With Moon’s opposition to Neptune, it’s important to regularly gain perspective so you do the right thing instead of just getting on a roll with the wrong thing. (I share this advice and 5 more in the Astrological Cues to Play Your Part in This Week’s Considerations).

Also, Vesta enters Libra today and helps you also ask for help outside. You can focus on that as your practical work for the day. As I wrote in my “Help is Love” article, Vesta is now ready to expand your network based on all you and your support crew has accomplished these past two months.
